Betty F. Bailey hails from Miami, Florida--a first generation Haitian-American. She holds a B.A. in History from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, as well as her Juris Doctor. She is a former prosecutor with the 12th Judicial Circuit, in Sarasota, Florida, and has earned an M.A. in Youth Ministry from Andrews University Theological Seminary.
In education, she was the first African-American social studies teacher at Palmetto High School in Palmetto, Florida. She also served as adjunct faculty in the General Education and Criminal Justice Departments at Westwood College in Atlanta. Her ministry career began at the Decatur Seventh-day Adventist Church, in Decatur, Georgia, serving as an elder and youth minister. In addition, Betty started a legal practice focusing on education law. She takes her role as educator seriously. Her students learn to analyze information and think critically. Betty serves as principal/teacher for EJA for grades 5-8. Her family includes husband, Robert Bailey, daughter, Olivia, and two sons: Victor “Elijah” and Bakari.

Gasie Mitchell was born in Kenly, NC and attended the Wayne County Public School system. She graduated from Oakwood College (University) in Huntsville, Alabama with a B.A. degree in Social Work and a minor in Religion. Gasie attended Southern University in Chattanooga, Tennessee where she completed the requirements for elementary education certification and endorsement. She has been a Seventh-day Adventist certified teacher for over 25 years. She has held positions of K-4 teacher and 5-8 principal/teacher in Georgia and North Carolina.
Her desire is to see her students develop characters for eternity as they advance prepared for the next level of life. Her family includes husband, Godwin Mitchell, two adult daughters, one son-in-law, and one grandson.
